HIX Air Automatic Heat Presses:
N-880 and N-680

HIX N-880 16”x 20”
&
HIX N-680 15”x 15”

Air Operated Heat Presses
Both require an air compressor

HIX air operated, automatic heat presses can be described with three phrases: easy to use, highly efficient productivity and rugged dependability.

Because an air operated heat press costs more (prices are at the bottom of the page), the following teaches you about them, so you can decide if this type of press is what you need.

Here’s why and how the HIX air operated press is easy to use

When the upper platen is effortless pulled down, it stops as the platen becomes parallel to the bottom. As it stops, a micro switch is tripped inside the press and this activates the air, from the air compressor.

The air pressure pushes the bottom platen up in about one second and this clamps the two platens together. No arm force is required during the clamping process, so your hand may be removed. In about another half-second the full pressure that you have set (measured in PSI on your air gage) is reached, as the timing cycle continues.

After the timed cycle is completed (usually 12-25 seconds, depending upon the type of transfer) the platens automatically unlock, the bottom platen moves down slightly and the top platen automatically opens up all the way.

Total energy expended during the entire pressing operation is just about zip.

Here’s 4 reasons why a HIX air operated press gives great productivity

First, because the HIX air operated presses are a clamshell design (the top moves up and down) the only energy that you use is the very minimal effort required to pull the top down. This is much faster than the two-hand “button pushing” required by a swing-away air automatic.

If you have hundreds of items to heat press in one day (a common event in the business), your arms, shoulder and back will thank you (this makes the press terrific for those with less than 100% use of their arms and shoulders).

Second, because pressure is always automatically controlled and regulated by air from the compressor, pressure stays the same regardless of what is in the press.

For example, if the transfer you are applying calls for 31 PSI (pounds per square inch), it will stay the same for a thin T-shirt, a thicker sweatshirt or even a thick jacket. This saves a tremendous amount of time!

Here’s another example. Very small items (like baby onesies, tote bags, breast pocket areas, sleeves, etc.) often require putting a small piece of mouse pad under the area to be pressed (so you can avoid seams, snaps, etc.). With an air automatic you don’t have to change anything. With an air automatic you don’t have to change pressure manually!

Third, the pre-press switch (see the top picture) is a valuable feature, used to open the press when you choose, if you want to press a shirt for just a few seconds, to get rid of moisture and wrinkles.

Fourth, because the lower platen is elevated over the bottom base, it is very easy to pull a shirt over the lower platen (like an ironing board), do one side, pull it off the press, reverse it and then pull it back on to press the other side. Being able to quickly and easily do both sides of a shirt is a big competitive advantage!

Here’s what makes the HIX air operated press ruggedly dependable

First, HIX has manufactured air operated presses for decades. They have the manufacturing process, nailed! If you ever hear someone complaining about their press, it probably isn’t a HIX.

Second, because these presses are often used in very high volume shops, special attention is given to moving parts. Long lasting pneumatic air cylinders (fed by your air compressor) lift the upper platen. The air valve that controls the “lift” of the bottom platen is reinforced for faster claming speed and bushings are installed at hinge points for durability.

Third, the machines are ETL Certified (the Electrical Testing Laboratory is an independent testing organization) and approved for electrical safety and each machine is mechanically tested for performance, before it leaves the factory.

Combine our low price, with the benefits of the HIX air operated presses and you’ve got a very good value.
